Obituary of Jordon Albert Veira-Rattray

On Sunday, June 23rd, 2019, Jordon Albert Veira Rattray (affectionately known as JV) was overtaken by an extremely severe and fatal asthmatic attack at the age of 26. 

Born and raised in Toronto, Jordon quickly rose to prominence in his community through his brilliant artistic, entrepreneurial and educational contributions. Working locally and internationally to promote equity and self-care, Jordon’s passion work was expressed through his various roles as a poet, educator, comedian, actor, business director, musician, photographer, event planner, philosopher, chef, community advocate and mentor. 

In addition to loving his community, Jordon also loved his family dearly and he will be greatly missed by his parents Nicolle Coco Veira and Elvis Ray Rattray, and his sisters Shamaia, Chantaya, Alyssia and Leslyn. Jordon’s enormous extended family includes a host of grand parents, uncles, aunts, god parents, cousins and his nephew and niece, Kofi and Awo. 

A public (closed casket) viewing for Jordon will be held on Saturday, July 6th 2019 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the New Haven Funeral Centre, 7025 Legion Road, Mississauga, Ontario.
