Dear Sister Lorna
You were one of the most beautiful women in Canada, I love you so much. For ten years you prayed for me and my family every day and if you called me and I didn’t answer you would leave me a voicemail to make me laugh, I could talk to you about everything whether it was good or bad, I am going to miss you so much but I am at peace knowing that you are resting and you’re in Gods hands RIP my love ❤️

Sincere condolences to the family of Sis. Lorna. I never refer to her as Sis. Lorna. We both had a name for each other. We both called each other Browning. I can remember the first time we met. I arrived at church and she was walking around greeting everyone and when she came over to me she said "whaappen browning". We both laughed as I responded by saying "nuttn browning". From that day we both called each other "Browning". What I liked most about Browning is that she was always ready to worship. She was always happy and in a good mood. I have never seen her looking sad and worried. She is now having a grand time with God and the angels. I pray for comfort for her family, relatives, and church family. We miss you on earth, but the angels are happy that you have joined their band. Have a glorious time in Heaven my friend, until we meet again.
- Maureen Allen (Browning), Alvastone Allen, & Sis. Mavis Moses.

Hearts and Hands
In Remembrance of Lorna Nichol
I’m glad that memories don’t leave like people do. Some people pass through our lives and leave a negative impression, while the positive impression some leave behind lasts a lifetime. Lorna Nichol was one of the latter. I was blessed to know Sis. Lorna, as a Mother at North Park Worship Centre(NPWC), an employee at Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) and a senior of the Hearts and Hand Ministry at North Park.
NPWC
On any given Sunday, Sis.Lorna could be found in the middle section of the sanctuary, next to her husband, Pastor Nichol, both nicely dressed. Sis. Lorna with a hat, tambourine and a big smile, was always ready to praise the Lord. As the worship service progressed, Sis. Lorna would make her way out from the pew, to have her customary dance.
The loud “Hallelujah”, “Jesus,Thou Son of David”, “The Blood of Jesus” and her burst of tongues were all cries we were familiar with and would be missed.
MCA
Sis. Lorna was employed as the Lunch Monitor at Maranatha Christian Academy for many years. I saw her every Monday to Friday, as she carried out her duties of warming lunches, taking the children out for lunch break and tidying up after them.
Sis. Lorna was acquainted with and well-loved. She was fondly called “Mamma Lorna” by some children and parents alike.
Whether she arrived early or stayed back awaiting a ride from her son, Winston, Sis. Lorna would occupy herself by reading the Word or praying for someone on the phone. She would always remind me that she was praying for the school and its teachers.
At Maranatha, we celebrated Staff birthdays and Sis. Lorna was always excited when December approached. It was obvious that her birthday was important to her. Each year, she would remind me that we shared the same birth month. When her big day finally arrived, she looked forward to cutting her cake and carrying some home to “Papa”.
Sis. Lorna’s name was also important to her. I remember her coming to the office and emphatically stating that there was no ‘s’ at the end of her surname; it was Nichol not Nichols! I humbly apologized as I was responsible for the incorrect spelling and promptly relayed the message to Payroll. She was pleased to see her name spelt correctly on her next cheque.
Sis. Lorna was a teetotaller. At our Staff Christmas Dinners, she would not touch the pudding, black cake or sorrel. The message was clear when she told me, “I don’t drink!”
Hearts and Hands
Last November, I was assigned to give oversight to and stay connected with a list of seniors, Sis. Lorna, being one of them. On my weekly telephone calls when I enquired how she and Pastor Nichol were doing, Sis. Lorna gave the usual response that they were blessed and both she and Papa were fine. God was providing for them and most importantly, they were praying. She listed the various Prayer Lines they were on throughout the week days, including NPWC three hour Prayer Service on Saturdays.
Sis. Lorna was a devout prayer warrior. She never got tired of praying, it was her lifeline and hobby, simultaneously. She would say, ”You have to pray and keep yourself covered under the bloodline”.
During one of our conversations, she shared that she was praying for the church to re-open so we could fellowship together, once more. On another occasion, I didn't get Sis. Lorna when I called, so I left a message. Sis. Lorna returned the favour with a prayer for my entire family; something I’ll cherish forever and I’ve since passed on to my family members.
Sis. Lorna told me that she was looking forward to visiting Trinidad, my birth country. She explained that she was invited by someone who got healed after she prayed for her. Although they never met, they kept in touch. They knew there was no distance with prayer.
As much as Sis. Lorna wanted to visit Trinidad, it was by no means her ultimate destination. Heaven was! Sis. Lorna said she was ready to go home and that we all must be ready when Jesus calls.
Sis. Lorna will be remembered for her sincere love for God, love of prayer, love of the Word and love of people. This was evident in everything she did. Because of her profound love for God, she desired to stay in constant contact with Him. So she prayed, anytime and all the time. The Word was important to her. She read it often and quoted Scripture constantly. She reminded us that we should pray without ceasing, that God is our refuge and strength and though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil.
She loved people. She would be concerned if you looked too serious, (as she loved to see you smile) and would be quick to offer a word of encouragement to cheer you up. Her many calls to other seniors and members and her countless visits to the hospital and shut-ins, easily attest to her love of people. That love was reciprocated. On several occasions, she mentioned that she knew she was loved and that she appreciated it.
She was a virtuous woman and the church community honoured and respected Sis. Lorna as a Mother. We are aware that she fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith. She is now absent from the body but present with the Lord. We thank God for this God-fearing, Prayer warrior whom we were blessed to have had among us. She is smiling as the Lord says, ”Well done,Thou good and faithful servant!”
At the end of her conversations and prayer, Sis. Lorna’s signature closing was always, “Bless Up!” So I say, “Bless Up, Sis, Lorna, Bless Up!”

Sister Lorna, my prayer warrior who never hesitated to pray for anyone. Thank you for praying for me and my family; my brother who you never knew but always recorded a prayer for me to send to him. We still have those prayers and will listen to them over and over. Your life here on earth was an example of a Christian woman and I know you are in your eternal home in Heaven. I will miss you, I will miss you, I will miss you.

Mama Lorna, a mighty prayer warrior of God. She will be miss for her many prayers and her encouragements throughout the day. She was fearless in sharing the words of God anywhere she goes, and to everyone she meets. Mama Lorna would encouraged people to accept Christ as their personal Savior, on the Buses, the Banks, and in the Malls. She loves people and was always willing to give a helping hands. Take your sweet sleep Mama in the Mighty Arms of your Savior Jesus Christ. Love you and miss you, So Long Mama.
My condolences to her husband Papa, [ Pastor Nichols] and children, and the rest of her family. God's Grace and Mercy be with you all.
