Obituary of Alexander Scott

Alexander Scott (Synep), 91, of Niagara, St James, Jamaica passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 11th, 2021 after a difficult battle with prostate cancer and congestive heart failure.

Synep was born on April 13th, 1929 to Reginald and Susan Scott in Niagara, St James Jamaica.  He attended Elementary School in Niagara but decided to leave School at an early age to pursue his passion, farming.  

In 1961, Synep met and fell in love with Leonie Kelly (Blossom), they were married in 1964 and started building a family immediately.  The couple went on to have a total of ten children in addition to Blossom’s 2 daughters.

Synep was a devout Anglican and could always be seen sitting on the back bench of the choir of the Saint Phillips Anglican Church on Sundays.    He would ensure that the Pastor’s car trunk is filled with produce from his farm after Church on Sunday and the widows of the community would never go hungry if had anything to do with it.

He was also an avid dancer and would be the first to hit the dance floor, his favorite type of music to dance to is: ska, soca and calypso.  He is also known for his story telling and would usually entertain the children by telling them anancy and duppy(ghost) stories. While in the hospital, he kept the nurses and doctors entertained and even on his death bed he would try to make them laugh.

Synep was loved and respected in the community, he worked hard to provide for his family to give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. In July of 1992, he migrated to Canada to join the rest of his family, he settled in Brampton, Ontario where he’s lived until his passing.  

He is survived by his wife Blossom, sister Hildred, 8 children 2 step-children, 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He will then be homeward bound to be buried alongside by his late son Joel at the St. Phillips Anglican Church in St. James. Jamaica, W.I.

FUNERAL SERVICE:

Regrettably, due to current COVID-19 restrictions, only immediate family members will be attending the service. 

PANDEMIC INSTRUCTIONS:

Please be advised there is a 10 ppl maximum capacity permitted in the funeral home (includes children and babies) and a 10 person maximum at the cemetery.  Staff will be continuously monitoring capacity numbers. Once we have reached capacity, guests will be asked to remain outside as there is NO gathering in the funeral centre at any time.

MANDATORY:  Face masks must be worn inside of the funeral centre at all times.
