Obituary of Dwan Tyler Cyrus
After a ferociously brave battle with stage 4 Renal Medullary Carcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive kidney cancer, our beloved son, brother, partner and friend, Dwan Tyler Cyrus passed away peacefully at Milton District Hospital in the evening of November 23rd, 2020. Over the last few months of his life, Dwan remained courageous as he underwent intense rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy treatment. He will forever be remembered for his strength and determination. He leaves behind his mother and father, Debbra Gibbs and Clement Cyrus, brothers (Zane, Rashad, and Jay Cyrus) and devoted partner, Melissa Torres. He also loved and was loved dearly by his many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
Born in Toronto, Ontario on December 24, 1994, Dwan lived his life enjoying music, travel and had a keen ability to photograph the beauty of the various places he travelled. He was always ready to help his friends with any projects they wanted. We are heartbroken that he is no longer with us and feel a great void in our lives but know that he will continue to take care of us and watch over us from Heaven.
Special thanks to the medical caregivers including various doctors, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals who supported Dwan and his family throughout his illness, especially during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We love and miss you immensely, Dwan and thank you for all of the ways you have touched our lives.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the GoFundMe in Dwan’s name at https://ca.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-dwan-tyler-cyrus.
