Obituary of Wellesley Winston Reid
Wellesley Reid, affectionately known as Reidy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the age of 81, after a brief illness. He was born on December 24, 1938 to Robert Reid and Lillian Ross in the little village of Somerset, St. Thomas, Jamaica. He left his home as a young man and moved to the big city of Montego Bay where he began his career in Accounting serving over 40 years at the Royal Caribbean Hotel and Singer Company.
He was the youngest of 8 children and was preceded in death by his father, Bob, his mother Lillian, sister Gurney, and brothers Hervin, Allan, Harold, Perjy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Phyllis Salmon, his four children, Wayne, Lloyd, Neiva and Angella, his brothers Noel and Ren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Reidy was an avid music lover. In the prime of his adult life he formed a DJ group called Focus 3 and played numerous gigs all over Montego Bay. His daughter Angella credits him for her love of all genres of music as at a young age she would help play some of those LP’s and 45’s in his huge record collection.
He was a kind, war compassionate spirit and was known for his charming infectious smile. His nieces and nephews adored him because he was the hip and fun uncle who took them places.
