I remember when I first met Miss Olive. She was pretty, classy, intelligent but at the same time approachable. I was blessed to have her and all the Roach family in my life so she became Aunt Olive. She was the Betty Davis amongst educators/professionals - made it look easy. I recall her always seeking out her siblings to tell them a funny story. Aunt Olive cared for people on a higher level - hearts, minds, souls so one discovered true worth, self love, contentment. She was a rarity. RIP

My dearest Auntie Olive was “just cool”. My name is SONIA but she made a flair to it by calling me “Son Hair” which made me feel special and loved. She never forget a Birthday. She made it her duty to call everyone on their special day. All my life I’ve known her to be exercising, taking long walks and eating sensible. She was devoted to her Faith, also an avid reader, a leader, teacher, advisor, great orator & world traveler. She loved her family very much and that’s why she never miss a celebrated occasion whether it’s a wedding, or a graduation or even a funeral. Aunt Olive lived a FULL and SIMPLE life yet she knew the finer things in life throughout her travels. She was pleasant to be around. She always leave you with words of wisdom in a catchy phrase.
Her life is but a stopping place
A pause in what’s to be a resting place along the road to sweet eternity
We all have different journeys, different paths along the way
We all were meant to learn something, but never meant to stay
Our destination is a place far greater than we know - For some the journey’s quicker, for some the journey’s slow
And when the journey finally ends we’ll claim a great reward, and find an Everlasting Peace together with the Lord.
You can now join the other ancestors who have been waiting for you. Surely, you will be missed immensely. Aunt Olive
Sleep in Eternal Peace! Much Love, Light & Happiness. Okay now, we’ll take control.

I cannot and will not say that she is dead, she is just away.
Strength and honour was her clothing.
Aunt Olive I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought of you yesterday and the days before that too.
All I have are fun memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I will never part.
God has you in his keeping, but I have you in my heart.
Sleep well Aunt Olive you have played your innings well.

What can I say about Frances in a couple of lines to encompass what she was all about?
I have known Frances for about 20 years as a client who was very health minded. I was her herbalist and we quickly became friends. My husband would help her out when she needed advice about handyman things, cars, and projects that she worried that she might be paying too much for. He would help out if he could do it himself at no charge and steer her away from others who might otherwise charge her too much.
You see Frances always saw the good in people and never questioned their motives. She wasn't naive in any way but thought that if she treated people with love and integrity that it would come back to her if not through that person, then through others later on in life.
She was a woman of faith and strong principles and had a heart for the underdog and less-thans in life as her life and her careers mirrored.
I used to live my life vicariously through all of her travels and loved to hear all of her stories about them as she talked about them and brought them to life.
Frances loved her family so much. I know a little bit about most of you as she would talk of you often.
I was not in touch with her during the last two years as she wasn't able to retrieve my messages or remember how to use the "silly phone thing" as she would call the answering machine, in her later days but I thought of her often.
The world has truly lost a treasure but she was not afraid of the next stage of her life after death.. She knew where she was going and was satisfied with her time on earth and will certainly live on in all of our memories. I know I will remember her as a true force of love and grace to be reckoned with.
Instead of saying good-bye to Frances I will instead say, "Happy graduation".
"May the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace" Numbers 6:24-26

My younger years boast memories of beauty and intellect of Ms. Olive or affectionately known as Aunt Olive to those who were close to her family as ours were. She was from a family of educators and good principle and was someone to be emulated. May her soul continue to R.I.P.

From Sheida Roach (Niece)
My aunt Frances Olive Roach was a principled, stern but loving individual who was a stickler for truth n rights, respect for self and others. She was a health fanatic who never missed 1 morning of her rigid work out regime and starting out her day with a healthy meal of a variety of fruits, nuts and a cup of herbal tea. The thing l loved most about my aunt was that she was always available for meaningful, constructive conversation with you and always had something of value to impart. I truly believe that whatever she didn't achieve was what she had no desire to. She had no children of her own, but I think God planned it that way as she was blessed with a host of nieces and nephews that she could shower with love and compassion from her big heart. She lived, loved, fought, conquered, and now she's retired to rest in eternal peace, leaving her footprints in the sands of time to be remembered by those knew and loved her. Sleep on my aunt, sleep on in perfect peace. SHALOM.

I met Francis about 5 years ago when I moved into Christie Gardens. She asked me to drive her to buy a safe-not a small one.
Imagine 2 old ladies wrestling this huge heavy thing into and out of the car, into an elevator and along the 7th floor hall. We laughed so much.
Francis was a social worker. When she came to Canada in the 1970s she landed inEdmonton Alberta where she worked for the federal govt in Indian Affairs. When she moved to eastern Ontario, she worked for the govt in the penal system. She said her boys, the inmates called her Miss Francis.
Francis was a fashionista. She wore these wonderful, colorful outfits. Every day was a color. She had shoes to match each outfit.
We would spend hours watching CNN and the Trump soap opera, and discuss the events as they unfolded. She was very fond of Obama and had his photo in her living room.
She loved to eat and spoke fondly of Brunei’s moms curried goat and jerk chicken. We even tried to make some chicken here.
Francis was a devout Buddhist and spent many hours at the Kampala Temple where she did the water offerings and took classes.
Francis was very proud of her family and spoke fondly of them I heard all about you all.
May you rest in Buddha’s arms, my friend. I love you.

In loving memories of Aunt Olive...
Aunt Olive was a virtuous woman and someone who I admired as a child growing up; from her work ethic, poise, workout regimen to her spiritual belief just to list a few things that had an impact on my life.
Know matter what the occasion was, how big or small it was, once you invited Aunt Olive she was there to support you. Every year on my birthday Aunt Olive would give me a “ring” and wish me happy birthday which I always looked forward to.
Aunt Olive never signed off from our conversation without telling me to keep smiling. I love you and I miss you. Keep smiling and Rest In Peace.

When I was a child my sister and I would refer to Aunt Olive as “Danger”..... We would post signs throughout the house....”Danger is coming”. We would also yell out throughout the night before Aunt Olive was to arrive “Danger is coming... Danger is coming”. Once she arrived she would shower us with anything we wanted or asked for! Aunt Olive was the best!
Aunt Olive was no nonsense, but loved unconditionally. I also remember she would get up so early to work out. As a child I sure wish I understood the importance of working out as I now know in my later years.
As Paul (another nephew) would often say- The love is there & will always be there! Sleep in Peace & your memory lives on. To all who read this- life is all about The Memories & Moments- Cherish them & live in each moment as if it were your last.... Make Yesterday Jealous of Today!
Those that have had the pleasure of hearing Aunt Olive speak on occasions hopefully remember she would reference a poem called “The Dash”. It refers to the “-“ between your birth & your death dates. Aunt Olive sure lived her Dash!
Ray Roach- Aunt Olive’s most handsome nephew. Lol. #Noshade to my cousins:)
