Obituary of Balfour Bonaparte Brown
Balfour Brown of Brampton, Ontario Canada, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 in William Osler Health System - Brampton after enduring Parkinsons’ disease for several years.
Born in Hanover, Jamaica, December 31st, 1946, to Mary James and Lambert Brown, Balfour was an avid reader, actively engaged in the political movements of Jamaica, and attended trade school to become a plumber. He migrated to Canada with his wife, Evelyn Brown in 1971. There, he continued schooling at George Brown college and resumed his career in plumbing eventually becoming a licensed independent contractor and establishing his own business in the field.
Balfour built community wherever he went. Indeed, he loved playing music, hosting parties, and attending music festivals. He was often seen surrounded by family and friends debating the latest political events, pontificating on religion, history, and philosophical ideas, and laughing raucously. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing sports, and returning to Jamaica to visit family and friends.
Balfour is survived by his wife, Evelyn, his sons Baldwin and Omari, and his daughters Tanya and Joan; his nieces and nephews, his grandchildren Ambrose, Taetum, and Eloise; and his siblings, cousins, and related family members in Canada and abroad.
