Obituary of Icema Anderson

Icema (Dorothy) Anderson passed away on November 30, 2024. She was born in the cool hills of Springfield, St. Thomas Jamaica, on May 27th, 1942, and was preceded in death by her mother Daphne Wilson, her sister Norma Donaldson and her brother Herman Anderson. She is survived by her daughters Sonia (Sandra) Llewellyn and Barbara (Babsy) Brown. Icema was blessed by the arrival of three granddaughters, Valando, Kimlyn and Shantee, who welcomed six great-grandchildren, Prince, Nneka, London, Anwuli, Kalesanmi and Ava. Her sons-in-law, Lawrence and Jim, her grandsons-in-law Festus and Taiwo all bear testament to how she welcomed people into her heart and family with open arms. Icema also leaves behind her brothers Fanso, Erick and Trevor, nieces, nephews, grandnephews/nieces, great grandnephews/nieces, close cousins and lifelong friends.

Many people knew Icema by fondly calling her “Auntie Dor”, “Ms. Dor” or “Dottie’. Ms. Dor was known for her bubbly personality, cooking/baking skills, storytelling abilities, dancing gifts, a born nurturer, but most importantly Ms. Dor was kind beyond measure. Her kindness wasn't just a trait; it was a way of life that will continue to be passed on for generations. Auntie Dor’s generosity was legendary.

Grandma, we love you. We thank you. And we promise to keep your spirit alive in our hearts and actions. Rest in peace, knowing that your life has shaped ours in the most beautiful ways. You will be forever missed and always remembered.
