Obituary of Cecille Huie

When Cecille Huie departed this life on August 29, 2024, a radiant light flickered out, leaving an unfillable void. Born on December 9, 1942, in Bottom Albany, St. Mary's, Jamaica, she was the youngest of seven children born to Leathe White and James Huie. Cecille marks the end of an era, outliving all but one of her siblings.

Cecille's life was a testament to her love for elegance and refinement. Her passion for fashion and finer things in life was evident in every aspect of her being. Her devotion to her church and community was unwavering, and she spent her career as a personal support worker, touching countless lives with her kindness and compassion.

But perhaps one of the most profound ways Cecille showed her love was her oxtail, a culinary masterpiece that brought joy to all who tasted it. Many are already lamenting the loss of her cooking, and the memories of gathering around her table will be deeply cherished.

Cecille's greatest joy was her family. A loving mother of Maurice and Shelley, she leaves behind her sister Olga, and her sisters-in-heart, nieces Lola Williams and Monica Hassock. But her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Reece and Kyle, who brought immense happiness to her life. Cecille also predeceases a slew of nieces, grandnieces and nephews, who were truly children of her heart.

A celebration of Cecille's life will be held at Heartland a Church Connected, 1100 Canadian Place, Mississauga, ON. The viewing will be at 9:00 and service from 10-11:00. A burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Dr, London, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way and Miracle Arena, two organizations that will honour Cecille's heart.

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in the memories of her love, laughter, and legacy.

Her oxtail may be gone, but the love and warmth she shared will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. You live on in our hearts
