Obituary of Doreen Constance Legall

Doreen Constance LeGall (Hinds), 88 passed away late afternoon on Friday August 4, 2023. She was surrounded by family members at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, as they prayed and then played her favourite song “Gypsy Girl” in her final moments. 

She was born May 12, 1935, in Bartica a town in Essequibo, Guyana to Irene (Headley) and Charles (Hinds) both whom are now deceased.  Doreen was the eldest of 11 children. In 1955 she would take on a career as a nurse at Georgetown Public Hospital. In 1959, she married Patrick LeGall (deceased) and had 3 children, Andre, Sharon & Simone. In 1983 she left Guyana to pursue a new life over in Ontario, Canada. She continued with nursing as a home care nurse for 5 years before retiring. She would then take on the full-time grandmother roll and help with raising her grandchildren.

Doreen was highly respected as a nurse, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was very loving, caring, but not to let that fool you, she also had a mouth on her that she wasn’t afraid to use. Doreen loved gardening, being on the road and Bailey’s.

Doreen is survived by her son Andre, daughters Sharon and Simone, Sisters: Rhona, Elizabeth, Margaret and Marie, Brothers: Jerome, Julian and Leyland, Grandchildren: Samantha, Marcia, Angelic, Shondel, Jermaine, Shannon and Orlando, Great Grandchildren: Tyrese, Journee, Zendaya and Skai, Son in Laws: Frederick and Otis, Daughter in law: Elizabeth, her nephews and nieces as well as many others whom she considered to be family.  She was preceded in death by her Mother Irene, Father Charles, Brothers: Lester, Birchel, and Charles.  We all know she is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones in heaven. She will be missed immensely by the ones she left here on earth.
