Just reminiscing on our cruise to the Panama Canal and the good times that we had. It was a pleasure having Howie and Minette celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in Florida last year. I will miss Howie taking over my kitchen and cooking that curried chicken and curried goat whenever he visited Florida while Minette and I went shopping. My family and I will cherish those memories.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Howie. We know each other from childhood days when his mother and my guardians market their products in the May Pen market back there in Clarendon, Jamaica.
Both our families were very close and as a result his sister Sonia would never missed the opportunity of coming to our home in May Pen every holiday to spend time with us.
I always travel with my family to the capital city of Kingston every week when they go to buy goods for resale in the market and I recalled during our teenage years Howie approached me and said he was interested in buying a bicycle and asked if I could buy it for him in Kingston, I decided that I could do that for him and I did get him the bicycle which he collected in May Pen and take back with him to St. Elizabeth.
We all grew up and go off to our different areas of life and lost contact with each other. Over 30 years had passed until I c migrated to Canada and searched and found Howie’s sister Sonia on FB who then updated me on the family including Howie. Sometime after I accidentally ran into Howie at a business place in Brampton and we were so happy to see each other again…. He reminded me about the bicycle he had asked me to buy for him and he did make sure that he let all the patrons in the store knows that I was the person who bought his first bicycle for him….
It was such a pleasure meeting up with him after so many years…..
We have lost a great guy, a great friend, a great family man….
Howie my friend you will be greatly missed… gone too soon… will never be forgotten…, rest well my boy.

I remember Howie being a kind and sharing person.He would share his produce (especially the mangoes )even though he had to make a profit from them . Even though he’s gone we will not forget him . Howie's legacy is one of a gentle and quiet spirit; a heart of love, demonstrated in his willingness to help others in any way he could. We surely were among those who have been blessed from his kindness because he cared.
We remember and enjoyed his stories of his early days in the meat business, and gardening, and his sharing of his techniques in planting potatoes and callaloo. Howie was a giver, and he gave and shared from what he had, even from every harvest reaped.
In Isaiah 57:1-2 it is written
"... the righteous is taken away from evil. 2 He shall enter into peace; ...."
We celebrate Howie's life, for he lived as a good and godly man, and rejoice knowing he has entered into peace, and is now with the LORD.
We speak this peace over the entire family and even as you sorrow may you be filled with hope, and the joy of the LORD which is your strength!

I have lost a friend as so many others have. Not only a friend but a really great person. A husband, Grandfather, brother, father, uncle and a family member. I am at peace knowing that Howie enjoyed his journey here with us leaving us with only good memories. In celebration of his 60th birthday last year he was so happy and I am so glad we could share the good moments with him.
