As a little boy growing up in Rockfort I was 6 or 7 when I met Phillip, AKA Marco Polo! He used to come around the side of the fence with his friends to check my sisters Yvonne and Fay. He told me to look out and tell me when One gear is coming. I said who is one gear - he said that is your Dad riding his scooter bike that is SO loud and I got a kick out of that! Phillip used to hang beside my yard and there was a DJ set with Big Roy and his brother Bobe and they played music every night and day!
That is when I really got to know Phillip, he was always funny and wanted to be the good guy who hung with the bad guys!
We learned so much from his Dad and the family when growing up in Rockfort, he got us into sports, we played soccer and table tennis and that kept us out of trouble. When Phillip left and went to Canada in the 70's I then reconnected with him again in the 80's when I came to Canada. He married my sister and I lived with them for a little bit. He encouraged me to learn a trade and he was running an appliance company while working at Ford. I used to work with him during that time. He was SO fun to be around and I loved his music and that was one of the joys of his life! You will be sadly missed as a good human being and person! It was always love and respect between us! Rest in Peace my brother, I will always love you!

Our most cincere condolences to our dear dear friend Marko beloved family. Our hearts are feeling ur pain because this day is also the day our darling son was put to rest, and on this very day exactly 2 years ago our beloved brother Marko stood up and spoke very kindly of our son Saybian as he knew him from a child. I can remember like it was yesterday the words with heart felt sadness Marko hugged me and sed how sorry and sad he felt for our lost. So today we must stand by ur side in love, respect and loyalty. Thank you Marco for being a dear friend to my family. The memories are too numerous to count. Some of our best times were spent in the basement, the backyard, at VRCA functions, you & Ingrid’s all White Brunches and our trips to Jamaica. The common theme was the music and dancing. It brought everyone close in love and harmony. I thank you for spending time talking to my Bobby, “now in heaven” about your extensive music collection. You are both reunited and can continue to chat. Keep the music playing my brother. In reverence and love, K & Family

I remembered Philip as Selassie 's grandfather. I was Selassie's daycare provider and he used to visit him and pick him up sometimes. He used to be so excited to see Selassie. He would say, "where is the boy?" Selassie would jump in his arms, and he would caught him. He was always well dressed. I really missed him. Rose Hunter

To my AWESOME ‘brother in love ‘ the mighty and extravagant Mr. Marco Polo. The memories we shared while growing up in Rockfort / Rennock Lodge with my sister, I will hold deep in my heart forever. You were also one of the most dapper dressed when we socialized in the best clubs. Oh the memories at Casino Royal! I was blessed to spend time with you before your passing. I enjoyed reminiscing about the good ol’ days. You will be truly missed by so many. My heart breaks for all those you touched over the years. To your children Alethia, Jackie, Phil, Phylica and Brendan your dad did his best in raising you all. You made him so very proud and it brought overwhelming joy to his heart. Rest easy Marco Polo God Bless and One Love

To my Uncle Marco,
It saddens me going to the house and know that I cannot hear your boomin voice surround the place. You were a gentle giant, never had a mean bone in your body but always had the kindest greeting whenever you seen me and a great big hug.Watchin you in the basement in what I call your "record room", spinnin them tunes. Both of being Taurus, we know we love music. Because of Uncle Delroy, I love Anita Baker. Because of you Uncle Marco, I got into The Whispers. I will cherish the time I sat down with you at your bedside, and we talked, and I got to tell you how much I love you and how I am going to miss you. I want to thank you for being the man that you are, the human I cherish and the Father/Grandfather/Uncle/Nephew/Son/Best friend to your family and all of your friends who adored and loved you so very much. For you so loved your wife, Aunty Ingrid, daughter Monique, and sons Quacy and Deshawn. Your deep abiding love and devotion to our Bennett-Wolfe family is something we will genuinely and sincerely miss. Sleep well my Uncle. For you have won the battle. I love you beyond this earth. Until we meet again...

I have come to realize, that of the many joys I have received from my many years of travelling and searching the world for music,is the joy I have received from the good people it has brought into my life.Phillip Davis (My Brother Marco) stands supreme.
Marco often reminds me that our first encounter was in the now defunct A&A Record Store in Toronto, Canada. The year could have been 1989. For I had gone there in search of the song "Don,t Know Much" by Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt. He thanked me for bringing the record to his attention and purchased one for himself. There is a line in this song and I quote "So blessed with inspiration" that for me fittingly describes Marco for I truly found him a blessing and an inspiration.
Our exchanges were always pleasant, meaningful and substantive. And he would always make mention of his family. No time for idle talk.
Upon telling him of an illness I was experiencing and his offer to call upon him, if I was ever in need, is one I will never forget because for me he had taken the collecting of records and the love of music to is highest level-caring for others.
Each contact with Marco made me a better person.Such a fine gentleman.Rest peacefully my brother.Miss you.

*Tribute to -Phillip (Marco) Davis* -from Old Harbour Area Association
It is with profound and deep sadness, we pay our respect and cherish the memories of our dearly beloved brother, Phillip (Marco) Davis.
Regrettably, we only had a few months to share and unravel the unfortunate news of Phillip’s illness before he succumbed to its dreaded fury.
The Old Harbour Area Association (OHAA) conveys heartfelt condolence to Ingrid and the bereaved family. Marco was our endeared brother and life loving partner and husband to our very own OHAA sister, Ingrid Symester.
Marco’s contribution to OHAA was unwavering. He was a reliable patron who believed in supporting OHAA’s charitable causes, as they yielded tangible means that offset some of the needs of the wider community. Marco gave his time and energy to many aspects of the organization wholeheartedly.
Marco epitomized love, truth, kindness, selflessness; some of the softer angles which reflected a lovely human being.
Let’s continue to hold Ingrid and the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers.
May Marco’s soul rest in eternal peace and light perpetual shine upon him.
Respectfully,
Jackie Harris
On behalf of the
Old Harbour Area Association (OHAA)
