I am so sorry to hear of Valerie's passing.
I had recently applied to a position at Mount Sinai and had remembered Valerie as the nursing manager - I had looked her up to see if she was still there, and had come across this heartbreaking news.
Valerie was one of my nursing professors during my time as a student at Ryerson, and was one of the managers when I had my consolidation on the postpartum unit. She was a wonderful, inspiring teacher and had lots to offer to her students: wisdom, inspiration, and perseverance. She portrayed nursing as more than a career; it was a special calling.
I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Stephen,Mark, Ryan, Allison and families,
Sincere, heartfelt condolences during this very difficult time.
Valerie and I spent many hours together throughout our careers. Her family always came first and was her pride and joy.
Nursing was her calling and she excelled in being a mentor and role-model as she succeeded in making this a better world for all of her students, patients and their families, her staff, and her beloved family.
Her commitment to nursing, to her family, to her friends and to her faith was unwavering,
Valerie, we will miss you always and will carry you in our hearts.

Didn't know Dr G well, but we had a meeting on Zoom earlier this year and Valerie and I were on the call by ourselves for about 20 minutes waiting for the third participate to sign on and we had a lovely chat and learned quite a bit about each others lives! She was delightful and I was looking forward to meeting her in person in the future. She will be dearly missed.

My sincere condolences to Valerie's entire family, friends and colleagues.
Valerie,
You will surely be missed for your smile that lightened the day of those you met, your courage to ask the tough questions that others shied away from yet inspired by you for doing so, and for being such a genuine and authentic colleague and nurse leader.
You've touched so many lives in such profound ways; I hope you knew that.
I am amazed by the warm and tender stories I hear from so many who new you, loved you, and whose lives you've influenced and helped changed in such memorable and profound ways.
You've helped each of us, all those who knew you, to be better nurses, leaders, educators and colleagues. Thank you my friend.

My deepest condolences to Valerie's family and friends.
As a nursing colleague for many years at Mount Sinai, I admired Valerie for her leadership skills and commitment to higher education. However Valerie's real gift was her ability to inspire and mentor others to believe in themselves. Valerie's encouragement and support will always be remembered and cherished by those of us fortunate to have worked with her.

Val, I still cannot wrap my head around you being gone. I am still shocked and devastated. I grieve for you. My sincere condolences to the Glasgow family. Valerie was a caring person and an advocate. She applied herself as a friend, a nurse and a volunteer in community causes while also caring deeply for her family. Although she immigrated to Canada only 1 year ahead of me, she took me under her wings and guided me in my early years. She constantly encouraged me to stay focused on my studies during the bumpy adjustment to my immigrant reality. She had a brilliant smile and always had a warm greeting. And, she never tired of saying “things will get better”. I will remember her too for her years of service on the board of the Sickle Cell Association of Ontario where she joined in the effort mandate the screening of newborns for this disease to enhance the quality of their lives. She will be sorely missed.

Valerie was a dedicated nurse and teacher. I met her as a teenager when I worked on 7 North and she guided me like she would her own daughter. I am grateful to her for teaching me how to care for my children (she was my nurse for both of my children - Thank God for that). She was always full of good sound advice. when It came time for me to leave 7 North to pursue a better position, she encouraged me to do so. She gave opportunities to those who might otherwise be overlooked. We have lost a true friend and pillar of the nursing community. My prayers go out to the entire family, for comfort during this difficult time. She will be dearly missed.

My sister, I’m blessed to call you my sister. You were my best friend and my confident. You’ve loved me unconditionally and stood by me and my children through thick and thin. You gave your best to everyone you knew and your generosity was beyond measure. You were an amazing wife, mother, friend, and an aunt. You had the most beautiful kind soul and you’d never take no for an answer. You had the most contagious smile throughout your life. You’ve touched everyone’s heart near and far.
You’ll be sadly missed.
RIP sis
Love you forever until we meet again. We are all navigating profound grief.

Valerie and I worked together at Sinai. She eventually replaced me as the Nursing Unit Administrator on 7 South. We had a rocky start to our relationship {smile} but it grew into a deep friendship of mutual respect and caring. We connected recently when another colleague of ours passed away. I was deeply saddened to hear of Valerie’s passing. Valerie loved her family deeply and was a role model for many nurses. She worked hard. Studying and working full time. I always admired her perseverance. May you rest in peace my dear colleague and friend.

My deepest condolences to Val’s family. I was fortunate to be part of Valerie’s work family from 2000-2017. Val loved a good laugh, was always inclusive and supported her staff.
I was shocked to hear of her sudden passing.
Val shared her BD with my husband so it was always a funny conversation on April 26th.
