Vernon was an uncle to me.
I met Vernon at my work and we have been friends since.
Vernon, was a great mind. The first time I met him I fet welcomed and respected.
He had an aura around him that always included a beautiful smile and words that always made you feel at ease. He loved his culture. There was not a week I didnt get a
song from the carribean or comedy from him. He always talked about Jamaica, always shared his love for his country and at one point I thought I was Jamaican myself.
I will dearly miss my friend Vernon. He has left so much memories that going on about it here might last a lifetime.

Vernon recently moved into my area and each time he would go for a walk and see me working in my garden he would stop and chat. I quickly realized that he was a very smart man and had great concern for humanity. We exchanged phone numbers and chatted online occasionally. About two weeks went by and I had not seen or heard from him so I sent a message to check on him not knowing that he had passed. His son responded to my message and informed me of his unfortunate passing. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

Dear Uncle Vernon,
We are heartbroken you are no longer with us. We will always treasure the memories we shared with you in London as children. Especially your love for music. We cried when you passed away although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes home the best.
We pray for comfort and peace for our loving Cousin Christopher.
May your Soul rest in eternal peace Dear Uncle Vernon.

I extend sincere condolences to the family and extended family of Vernon.
Vernon was a part of a close knit loving family who I have known at different stages of life. The baby of the family, he was much loved, with his brothers and sisters always watching out for him.
A few years ago his sisters were instrumental in snatching him from the jaws of death, thank God.
May his family members be comforted as they treasure memories of his life.
May his sould rest in eternal peace.

Vernon, our dear little brother - I was the second member of the family to see you as I travelled nine miles to Port Maria Hospital where a clever doctor, called Dr Harry distinguished himself by helping you into this world despite the difficulties there were. I've been enamoured with you ever since and I speak for the rest of the family who all felt the same. You were a clever child, you were very witty, endearing and you drew people to you in a lovely way. You were able to say things that other people couldn't possibly say but no one took offence as you were able to say things in such a lovely manner. Vernon we watched you grow up. The people in our town Highgate (JA) loved you and the teachers loved you. When our mother left for England, us 3 older girls cared for you and because of that there is an extra special attachment. That has never been broken and it will never be broken. You are gone from us now but you will always be with us in our hearts dear Vernon. Now, it seems incredible that you will be here no more. Your arguments that you would put forward against the treatment of our race and discussions we would have will never be bettered. I remember your love of music and how you used to send me music that you loved. When I play the music you sent to me you are still with me. We thank God for your life and how you touched us in such a special way. You will be so missed but we hope we will do you justice and honour in the way we continue to live our lives. They don't come much better than you. May God give you eternal rest and his light continue to shine on you. Rest in peace dear Vernon. From Jean, Patrick, Beverly, Margaret, William and all your nieces and nephews.

Vernon was a soul that should you have been fortunate enough to come into contact with, you'd know that you had forever been touched by a shining light. I can still 'hear' his positivity and the chipper greeting he had for me each day we worked together. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.

On behalf of the Brown's family, Con and Vinetta wishes to offer our sincere condolences to our dear cousin Vernon's family and friends . Now that he is in his Savior's arms may his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.
Vernon will be greatly remembered for his humour, unselfishness, social awareness and strong sense of identity to our Jamaican roots that has been instilled in us by our parents.
Vernon was a great liver of politics and I can remember the many nights we talked on the phone discussing world politics especially related to the struggles of black people.
Walk good Vernon we will be sure to meet one day on the other side.

I spent a lot of time with Vernon talking about the world we live in. We were trying to understand it. To make sense of it. Nothing was out of his reach. No topic was forbidden to discuss. He was exploring topics that were at the edge because he said: “We can understand the edge only by exploring it”. In his heart, he was a scientist, an explorer.
Vernon was sharp observer. When we become friends, he realized that our childhood was similar. Even though we lived in different countries, we went through the similar struggle as children. He never complained. Since teenage years he understood that nothing is given and that everything has to be earned, that you cannot force someone to respect you that the respect has to be earned. And he earned his. Anyone I know respected him for what he was. Kind worm heart with beautiful mind.
Once during the coffee break, when chatting with several people from different part of the globe, he made a spiritual observation: “Look at us, every single one of you lived far away at different places, but we all feel connected probably because we all lived next to the ocean. The sea is connecting us”.
He was very good in what he was doing. He was a problem solver in very stressful environment. His ability to defuse any tense situation with a joke was amazing. Even unconformable situations – like when in the men’s room shoulder to shoulder standing in uncomfortable silence, he would crack a joke to make it less uncomfortable.
Vernon was a tremendous individual. Bright mind with kind soul. He was loved by everyone and his presence was always welcome. His casual approach with the humor was refreshing and inspiring. The conversation would usually start in the morning with the first coffee (or tea). With a cup in his hand and with his big smile he would start: “Hey Mario, how the life is treating you? … not very often?” … and then he would continue with a light question: “… have you heard about …?”. And this is how it would start - an innocent question that would develop in serious conversation about the event. After discussing different angles of the event, he would make you think and contribute to the topic. The way how he was interacting with people attracted people to him. That was rare ability.
The sadness comes from realization that all of this is gone now. Not coming back. I will deeply miss our talks.
My condolences to his family that will miss him more than anyone.
But at the second thought, we can never loose someone who becomes part of us. He will keep living in our memories, hearts, and souls as he was sharing his with all of us.
Rest in peace my friend.
