In loving memory of Salome Bryan

1944-2026

It is with great sadness that the family of Salome Bryan announces her death on Tues., April 28, 2026 at the age of 81.

Born on May 1, 1944 in Mocho, Clarendon, Jamaica, Salome immigrated to Canada in 1972. She was a long-time resident of North York and Etobicoke.

Retired for more than 15 years, Salome, who was affectionately known to many as Miss Mary, worked for more than 40 years in housekeeping at downtown Toronto’s Metropolitan Hotel, which later became a University of Toronto residence and conference centre.

She was a strong-willed, independent, and hard-working individual, a woman of God who was kind, loving, and cared deeply about others.   Salome cherished time spent with family and friends, and took great pride in caring for her home. 

She will be deeply missed by her only son Peter and daughter-in-law Joanna as well as their daughters Serafina and Angelina. She also leaves behind stepchildren Olivette (Rex), Gary (Kim), Steve (Patricia), Delroy, and Wayne (Nordia), and several grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband Linton in 2024 as well as her parents Philip and Rachel Johnson and siblings Nathan, Jimmy, Albert, and Geseta, Salome is survived by her brothers Elisha (Muriel) and Francis and sister Murelda along with several nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
