Obituary of Deserine Anisa Francis
**In Loving Memory of Deserine Anisa Francis**
October 31, 1970 – April 14, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Deserine Anisa Francis, who departed this life peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 55.
Born on October 31, 1970, in Lime Hall, Clarendon, Jamaica, Deserine carried her roots with pride throughout her life. While she would often laugh and say she had been in Canada far too long to be called Jamaican, her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for others reflected both where she came from and the life she courageously built.
Affectionately known as “Dezz,” Deserine was a fiercely devoted mother to her children, Anisa and D’Juvuan, and a proud, loving grandmother to Amarah and Jaziah. Her family was her greatest joy and her highest priority. She was their foundation, their comfort, and their strongest supporter, offering love that was constant, unconditional, and deeply felt.
She leaves behind her beloved mother, Ermine, whose strength, guidance, and love shaped so much of who Deserine was. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers Carl, Maxwayne, Jay, and Deon, her sister Maxine, along with her half-siblings, cherished nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who became family over the years.
Deserine often shared the story of arriving in Canada with just one dress packed into a small suitcase, a memory she carried with both humor and pride. That suitcase and dress remain carefully preserved by her mother, just as Deserine insisted, untouched and safeguarded. More than a keepsake, they stand as a powerful symbol of her resilience, her sacrifices, and the remarkable journey that defined her life.
Throughout her years, Deserine lived with quiet strength, grace, and compassion. She faced life’s challenges with determination and humility and had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcomed. Her kindness, honesty, laughter, and thoughtful words left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Though she is no longer with us, Deserine’s love and legacy live on through the family she raised, the lives she touched, and the memories that will forever be cherished.
A funeral service will be held on May 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at New Haven Funeral Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated (but not expected) to support the family and assist with funeral and after-life arrangements.
Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever missed.
