Obituary of Carlene Elizabeth Lawrence

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, our beloved wife and mother, Carlene "Sonia" Lawrence passed away peacefully in North York, Ontario at the age of 69 years.

  • Sonia was the beloved wife of Conroy "Paul" Lawrence, whom she met in 1974. They were married in 1987 in Jamaica by Dear Pastor, capturing their joy in timeless photos at Devon House. Together, they built a life defined by devotion, travel, and adventure. She was a nurturing, curageous, and "always right" mother to Omar, Okeima, and Daniel Lawrence, and a mother to Mark, Maxine, and Aldine Lawrence. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Omar Terell, Aliyah Taylor, Malachi, and Savannah Taylor Bevan Lawrence.
  •
  • A daughter of the Taylor family, she is survived by her brothers Norris "Randy" Oliver Taylor, Phillip “Johnny” Taylor, and Lloyd Cole, and her sister Norma "Blossom" Sama. Her warmth extended across the globe to many nieces and nephews and long-time friends in Jamaica, Canada, the USA, and the UK.
  •
  • Beyond her 30 years of professional success as a hairstylist and small business owner of Flamboyant Beauty Solon, Sonia was a modern, brave woman who was always ready for a new adventure. She was a great cook, an intentional listener, and a natural problem-solver who was deeply loved by everyone. She stood as a rock for those she loved, teaching us to live a rich life filled with love and the bravery to forge our own paths.
  •
  •
  • Rest with the ancestors, your work is done.

God be the glory. In Gods name I put my trust. Amen.
