Obituary of Philiseta Retemeyer

Philiseta Cleopatra (nee Gordon) Retemeyer passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at 76 years old. Born on November 27, 1949 in St. Thomas, Jamaica, she was the third of 10 children born to Herbert and Catherine (nee Telfer) Gordon. She emigrated to Toronto, Canada in the early 1980s, where she built a life. Known by family as Valerie, she was the loving mother to her daughters Paulette and Samantha, loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Paul, Peter, Unique and Shenique, Isaiah and Kamia. She was also very blessed to be a great grand-mother to Kamani. She was a stay-at-home mom for some years and then worked various jobs. for many years. Very outgoing, she had a passion for cooking and spending time with her family. She will be missed by her five sisters, and three surviving brothers, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, Jamaica and the United States.
