Obituary of Enid Marshall
With humble hearts, we announce the passing of Enid Marshall, affectionately known as Tatty, who was born on November 26, 1947, to Irene Mitchell and Aston Marshall in Lower Chapelton, Clarendon, Jamaica. She departed this life on January 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and service.
Enid was educated at Chapelton All-Age School in Jamaica, where she developed the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance that would guide her throughout her life. She later worked at Gradiaz Annis Tobacco Company in Kingston, Jamaica. In August 1979, she migrated to Canada and settled in Ontario, where she was welcomed and supported by family members.
Shortly after her arrival, she began working with families, assisting with household duties while furthering her education. Through hard work and determination, she became a Laboratory Assistant at Gamma Dynacare in 1989, a role she remained committed to until the time of her diagnosis.
She was known to be a woman of a strong work ethic — punctual, dependable, and deeply dedicated. She took pride in her work and carried herself with dignity and responsibility in all that she did.
Soon after settling in Canada, she became a member of St. Cuthbert’s United Church, and later transferred her membership to Kipling Avenue Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She was an active and devoted member of the church community, always ensuring that the kitchen ran smoothly and that everyone was well fed. Her ackee and saltfish with fried dumplings was especially loved and never went unnoticed. She also assisted with the administration of Holy Communion, a duty for which she often expressed great joy and fulfilment.
Enid was known for her heartwarming personality, witty banter, her green thumb for plants, and her love and care for serving others, both from her community and family.
Mourning her loss is her beloved daughter, Christine; three sisters and three brothers; along with aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish her memory.
