Obituary of Evelyn Cocheta Lawrence

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Evelyn Cocheta Lawrence, who died on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario. She was born in Pointe Hill, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies.

Evelyn was full of life. She was vibrant, fun loving, and never afraid to be herself. She loved music and dancing, and you always felt her presence the moment she entered a room. Outspoken and full of humour, she had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable. Her honesty, authenticity, and ability to turn any space into a dance floor no matter the circumstance were part of what made her so special.

Family meant everything to Evelyn. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She leaves behind one son and three daughters, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Lawrence, and her youngest son, whom she loved deeply and never forgot.

Evelyn was deeply loved by her family, extended relatives, longtime friends, and the many friends who became family over the years. Her warmth, laughter, and strong spirit will be missed more than words can say.

While we grieve her loss, we are thankful for a life lived boldly, honestly, and with joy. Her memory will live on in the dancing she loved and the honest humour that brought laughter to everyone around her.
