Obituary of Katcheta Cuffie

Katcheta Edwina (Edna) Cuffie

December 30, 1942 – June 1, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Katcheta Cuffie, who departed this life peacefully on June 1, 2025, at Malton Village Long-Term Care Home in Ontario. She was 82 years old.

Born on December 30, 1942, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Katcheta was raised in the lush district of Mountainside, where her strength, resilience, and faith began to take root. In the 1970s, she immigrated to Canada and built a life full of love and service. Against all odds, she worked as a waitress at a hotel, she pursued her education, became a certified health care professional, dedicating her life to helping others within the healthcare field.

Katcheta was a woman of grace and grit, known for her quick wit, stylish flair, vibrant laugh, and bold, spirited attitude. Her passions included gardening, singing, missionary work, spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending church, and enjoying life to the fullest. She also had a keen eye for style, always ensuring her hair and nails were done to perfection, and held a deep love for traveling.

Her proudest accomplishment was successfully migrating to Canada, bringing all of her children with her and building a strong foundation for generations to come. Her sacrifices and determination continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Katcheta is survived by her loving children Hopetan, Janet, Linda, and Garth; her cherished grandchildren Hunter, Cleoni, Clinroy, Feleisha, Franceine, Dwayne, Jaleesa, Tashaun, Onika, Cauvon, and Tasheena, as well as 16 great-grandchildren all of which she loved greatly. She is also survived by her brother Wilton, and predeceased by her son Orville, brother Nosburn and grandchildren Jermaine and Aleisha.

She was deeply rooted in her Christian faith, attending church regularly and living by the strength of her beliefs. Her legacy of faith, love, and laughter will continue to live on in all who knew her.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on June 21, 2025, at Kingdom Life Ministries. All are welcome to attend and honour her memory.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and doctors at Malton Village LTC Home for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Katcheta’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Brampton.
