Obituary of William Alexander Fobbs Washington
We gather with reverence to honour William A. Washington, affectionately known as “Soup Man”—a devoted father, steadfast brother, loyal friend, and unwavering servant of God. Born under the golden sun of Guyana, William carried the warmth, wisdom, and indomitable spirit of his homeland, crafting a legacy rooted in love, faith, and quiet strength.
William’s greatest pride was his sons, Jahiem and Irvin, whom he raised with unwavering dedication, wisdom, and a protective love that knew no bounds. His legacy is etched in the lives of his beloved sons and the countless souls he uplifted with his generosity, wisdom, and boundless warmth. Known for his infectious spirit and willingness to extend a helping hand, he embodied the essence of community, leaving indelible marks on family, friends, and his spiritual family at AKPOBASA GLOBAL MINISTRIES. To those closest to him, he was “Soup Man”—a name reflecting his undeniable charisma, his gift for bringing people together, and the joy he found in simple moments: a lively debate among friends, a spirited dominoes match, or the rhythm of a shared dance.
William faced life’s trials with grace and resolve. He shielded his loved ones fiercely, led by example, and believed hard work and humility were the truest marks of character. His words, “May the light of God continue to shine brightly as you move forward,” remain a guiding star for all who knew him. Guided by his favourite verse, Proverbs 20:7, “The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them,” he lived a life anchored in faith, loyalty, and quiet influence.
Though we mourn his absence, we find solace knowing William now rests in God’s eternal peace. His lessons endure: that faith anchors the soul, loyalty is sacred, and love transcends even death. His life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
“There is power in the blood.” We pray for comfort, cherished memories, and strength for his loved ones as they carry his legacy forward.
Rest in Peace. Rise in Glory.
