Obituary of Julia Jackson
Julia Elizabeth Jackson, (nee) Grant, Mother Jackson, Mama, Beloved mother, Grandmother, Great, great, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 21st, 2025, one week after celebrating her 107th birthday.
Julia was born February 16th 1918. However, her birth was registered on August 16th, 1918. Julia was the daughter of James Grant and Clementina Duffus. She attended Moors Elementary school and after leaving school she was trained to be a seamstress. During her occupation as a seamstress, she sewed clothing for her children and other people in the community.
Julia met and married Robert Jackson. They were married 38 years when he died on December 13th, 1975. Julia, Mother Jackson, Mama, remained a widow until she took her last breath on February 21st, 2025. The union produced eleven children of which five have died and six are alive.
Julia (Mother Jackson), Mama, cherished her faith in Jesus Christ. She loved God and she served Him with all of her heart. Her characteristics can be compared with the proverb 31 virtuous woman that is mentioned in scripture. She was a member of the A.M.E church in Jamaica; however, when she migrated to England in the sixties she got involved with the City Mission Church where she experienced Pentecostalism. As a result, she never went back to the A.M.E. church after she returned to Jamaica.
Julia is survived by her children, Mrs. Idalee Lawson, Elgo Jackson, Mrs. Etta Grant, Alfred Jackson, Pastor Carmen Lewis, and Winston Jackson. In addition, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great,great, grandchildren.
.Julia, mother Jackson, Mama, was predeceased by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers, and her son Gladstone Jackson.
Julia, Mother Jackson, Mama, will be remembered for her dedication, and commitment to the work of God. In addition, her wisdom, tenacity, her smile, and her feistiness. Also, her ginger beer, escovitch fish, sorrel drink, potato pudding, rice and peas and curried goat.
