William George Jones
January 10, 1933 – February 15, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of William George Jones, who departed this life on February 15, 2025, at the age of 92. He passed peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital in Ontario, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, faith, and service.
Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, on January 10, 1933, William immigrated to Canada, where he built a life dedicated to his family, community, and faith. He was the devoted husband of the late Evadne Jones, originally from Barbados, and together they shared a lifetime of love and purpose.
William is survived by his beloved son, Everett Jones, his daughter-in-law Danuta Jones, his cherished grandchildren Ruth Jones, Jabez Patzan, Aaron Jones, and Adonai Jones, and his foster daughter Marsha Pruitt, who joined the family at the age of four and stayed for fourteen years. He was also a dear brother to Colin and Albert Jones. His daughter Dana Jones, who passed in 2019, preceded him in death.
For the past 65 years, William made Etobicoke his home, leaving an indelible mark on the community. A man of deep faith, he served as an organist at the First Baptist Church for over 50 years, sharing his musical gifts and spiritual guidance with countless individuals.
William had an immense passion for education and professional growth. He attended Humber College, where he studied Interior Decorating, and later Seneca College, where he pursued Home Staging. His love for theology led him to earn a Bachelor of Theology from the Canadian Christian Theological Seminary and a Master of Christian Life Coaching. He was a Certified Nouthetic Counsellor, commissioned by the Certified Nouthetic Counselling I, extending his support to those in need.
A dedicated professional, William spent 37 years as a manager at the Canadian Postal Service, demonstrating his unwavering work ethic and commitment to serving others.
Beyond his career and ministry, William and Evadne were pillars of compassion, fostering 27 children over the years. Their dedication was recognized and honored by the Children’s Aid Society, beginning in 1961.
After the passing of his wife, William developed relationships with Dorthy Agie and the Agie Family, further fostering life-long connections through his dedication and commitment to providing for others. For the next serval decades, The Agie family became a 2nd family to not only William but his children and grandchildren, creating an environment of shared family values, faith and fellowship.
William George Jones leaves behind a legacy of faith, music, kindness, and devotion. He touched many lives with his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community. His memory will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
