Obituary of Adrena Providence

We wish to celebrate the life of Adrena (Claudine) Providence who transitioned at the age of 102 on November 14, 2022 at Brampton, Ontario.

Adrena was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Edwin Providence and daughters Brenda Smith of the United Kingdom and Zita Picou of Trinidad and Tobago.

Adrena is survived by her children: Clarence Providence, Angela (Providence) O’Brien, Hazel Providence-Brown of Brampton ON, Carol (Providence) Worrell of New York USA, Oswald Providence of Brooklin ON and Andrew Providence of Surrey, UK.  She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren as well as her loving daughters-in-law Louisa Providence and Monica Providence, her many cousins and relatives here and abroad.

Adrena was born in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago and migrated to Canada in 1993. She was indeed a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great-grandmother. A powerful woman of God who fasted and prayed unceasingly, loved God, gave sacrificially of herself, cared for her household and those around her, she personified the life of the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31:10-31 an excerpt of which is as follows:

“25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
²⁶ She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
²⁷ She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
²⁸ Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her”

Truly many daughters have done well, but she excelled them all.
